This past weekend was the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in SF. If you have never been I recommend making the pilgrimage especially if you live in California. The festival draws some of the most unique people and for those who are into people watching it doesn't get any better. Why do hundreds of thousands flock to Golden Gate Park every year? Well the festival not only is FREE, but it continually draws amazing artists. Some of the stand outs this year included Gillian Welch, Ryan Bingham, M. Ward, John Prine, Steve Earle, Jolie Holland, A.A. Bondy, and the list goes on and on. This year it was surprisingly hot in SF and good vibes and banjo tunes hummed through the air. Even though the crowds are crazy and the people crazier...you would have never seen so many smiling people in one place. So this Monday take time to look at the artist list on the Hardly Strictly webpage and begin introducing yourself to these bands. You will not be disappointed with many.
